Awarded the DFC for " As wireless operator this officer has taken part in a large number of bombing missions, most of which have been against strongly defended targets such as Berlin, Leipzig, Stuttgart and Frankfurt. In November, 1944 he took part in an attack on Bochum. During the bombing run the aircraft was hit by shrapnel. pilot Officer Hunt was wounded in the face and leg. After his injuries had been attended to he insisted on attempting to work at his wireless apparatus, although he was in continuous pain and in a dazed state. He set a splendid example of fortitude and devotion to duty in the face of much physical distress."
